The chairman of Sari City Council said that a project to build the biggest Ruber dam in the north has absorbed 4.2 billion toomans in finances.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the dam built across the Tajan River in Sari, Mazandaran province, Mehdi Rezai Farahabadi described the river as a blessing and said the dam will satisfy the town’s recreational and tourism needs.
He said members of the city council were determined to clean up the river and decided to have a dam built across it.
The city council member described the dam as unique and said plastic dams are mostly built for agricultural purposes but the dam in Tajan is for recreational purposes.
He added the dam which has been built by local experts has taken less than a year to complete, a timeframe which is unique.
Farahabadi expressed hope the recreational potential of the dam would be fully tapped and said the city hall welcomes investment by private enterprises in such projects.
He concluded that Sari has a lot of potential and that removal of operational and budgetary hurdles will speed up the completion of such projects.
