Siyahbisheh Dam

Initial studies were carried out of the project by Tractionell Consultant, a Belgian Company, in 1970. The first phase studies were completed in 1972 by the same company.

In 1984 the Moshanir and Lahmayer International Joint venture, began phase II studies and preparation of tender documents which were completed in 1986.
Technical and economical provisional studies were started again in 1999 by the EDF Company and completed in 2000. Phase II design completion was carried out by Moshanir-EDF in 2002.
The project is located in the vicinity of Siah-Bisheh village in Mazandaran province 125 km to the north of Tehran and 10 km to the north of kandovan tunnel on Chalus river . The objectives of the project are generating 1000 MW of hydroelectric energy and creating balance in the national electricity network during peak and non-peak hours.
