Iran ranks third in the world in dam building
 
Iranian contractors are building 135 new dams across the country and also doing several projects in other countries.
 
 
 
 
Iran ranks first in the region and third in world in terms of dam construction industry, First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi announced on Saturday,MOE reports. 

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 13th meeting of high ranking directors of electricity and water industry, he said regional countries are increasingly demanding electricity imports from Iran. 

He added that currently contractors are building 135 new dams across the country and also doing several projects in other countries. He also said, “Although Tehran has been the target of sanctions of Western powers for more than three decades, today Iran ranks the first in region and 16th in the world in terms of electricity output.” 


On earlier July, Iran celebrated self-sufficiency in dam construction by inaugurating the Karun-4 dam, the largest concrete dam in Iran, which has been completely designed and constructed by domestic engineers
