Senior adviser to the minister of energy of Iran announced that  potential of 15000 mw of wind energy has been identified in Iran.

Chit Chian said:At the time being potential of economical electric energy generation from wind within the off-shore-examined sites is well over 15000mw.

"Provided that 500-mw wind turbine is manufactured annually within 3 upcoming years ,the renewable power industry of Iran emerges as an international competitor and an exporter." The senior Adviser said.

Chit Chian continued we are going to have installed and operated 1650 mw of wind turbine by the end year 2013.

Operating wind farms is far easier than thermal power plants and it can be carried out by domestic forces even in remote areas , he added.

The Senior Adviser concluded the electrical energy industry of Iran is bound to increase the share of wind energy due to technical, environmental, economic as well as social studies and assessments.
