Electricity Production Capacity Hits 42,500 MW
 
The deputy energy minister said that the country’s electricity generation capacity stands at 42,500 MW.
 
 
 


Mohammad Behzad  Deputy Minister of Energy said the energy machine faces no problem as far as supply of electricity is concerned. “This year, daytime consumption peak hit 41,001 MW and the nighttime figure stood at 40,105 MW. Regular planning and a grid capacity of 42,500 MW translated into flawless supply of electricity across the nation.”
He said despite unprecedented heat during summertime, thanks to detailed planning and commitment among personnel the Energy Ministry pulled off a major success when it came to supply of electricity.
He appreciated the efforts of staff at Azerbaijan Regional Electricity Company for setting up the new substation and said the Energy Ministry has plans to increase the capacity of Ardebil Power Plant.
Behzad went on to say a major part of measures to expand the capacity of Ardebil Power Plant to 1,500 MW is in progress. “When the project in complete, Ardebil Power Plant will be the biggest electricity facility in the northwest.”
Meanwhile, the managing director of Azerbaijan Regional Electricity Company said the installed electricity generation capacity in Ardebil province stands at 685 MW while the registered consumption peak there is no more than 340 MW.
Ali Baharivand further said his company has invested some 320 billion rials in 32 projects in the region. “An additional 15 projects which need 2.5 trillion rials in investment will have been undertaken by 2014.”
