The proposal to organize the event was presented to the Cabinet by the Energy Ministry. It was in line with Note 3 of Article 1 of the Regulation of Unnecessary Costs Act. After reviewing the proposal the Cabinet gave the green-light to the Energy Ministry to organize the 21st International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage, the 8th International Micro-Irrigation Congress and the 62nd annual meeting of the International Executive Council (IEC).
The government’s go-ahead was designed to make maximal use of international experience in the water and electricity industry and pave the way for closer interaction with international experts in the field.
The weeklong gathering which opens on October 15 has been Iran’s largest international water event for the past three decades. More than 400 foreign experts from 50 countries are expected to attend the event.
