Utility crews tried to restore electricity to more than 11,000 customers in West Virginia who lost power during a series of severe storms CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) reports.
Storms on Wednesday and Thursday felled trees and downed power lines across the Kanawha Valley, parts of southern West Virginia in USA, and several counties along the Ohio River.
Wednesday's storms left more than 60,000 customers of Allegheny Power, Appalachian Power and American Electric Power-Ohio without electricity. By Friday afternoon, the utilities reported a total 11,371 customers remained without electricity the report said.
Police attributed one death to the storms. Sixty-two-year-old Linda McDougal of Charleston died when a tree fell on a car near Kanawha State Forest Wednesday night the daily said.
