The World Bank has approved a 50-million-dollar (32-million-euro) grant for Burundi to improve its electricity and water supply, the bank said Friday AFP reports.
The International Development Association (IDA) grant "addresses the urgent need to fill the current gaps between supply and demand in both electricity and water supply," the bank said in a statement.
Burundi is struggling to emerge from 14 years of civil fighting that has left an estimated 300,000 people dead, mainly civilians, and the economy in tatters.
