Due to the existence of the three Karun, Dez and Karkhe rivers in Khuzestan Province, this company’s main activities are concentrated on this region. However, projects are being implemented and studied in Chahmahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan and Ilam provinces.

Energy and Water Resources Development Company’s Projects
A. Projects under operation
1. The 400-MW Karkhe Power Plant Project (Three 133-MW units)
2. First phase of the Masjed Soleyman Power Plant Project with a capacity of 1000 MW (four 250-MW units).
3. The 2000-MW Karun-3 Dam and Power Plant Project (eight 250-MW units)
4. The 35-MW Kuhrang Hydroelectric Power Plant Project (three units with a nominal capacity of 13 MW)
5. Projects for the construction of small and micro hydroelectric power plants with a capacity of 13 MW.
B. Projects under implementation
1. Project for reinforcing Karkhe Dam
2. Project for the expansion of the 1000-MW Masjid Soleyman Power Plant (four 250-MW units)
3. Project for the construction of the 1500-MW Gatvand Dam and Power Plant (to be expanded to 2000 MW)
4. Project for the construction of the 1000-MW Karun-4 Dam and Power Plant (four 250 MW units)
5. Project for the construction of the 480-MW Simreh Dam and Power Plant (Three 166-MW units)
6. Project for the construction of the 450-MW Rudbar Dam and Power Plant in Lorestan Province (Two 225-MW units)
7. Project on Azad Dam’s structure and control system.
8. Project on Javeh Dam’s structure and control system.
9. Project on the Nusud Tunnel and control system
10. Project for the construction of various small and medium dams such as projects a for the construction of Lavarak (47 MW), Martyr Raja’i (13.5 MW) power plants and the Yasuj chain power plant (10.32 MW)
11. The project for the construction of the 1500-MW Bakhtiari Power Plant
