Sang Toodeh 2 Power Plant is a Symbol of Iran-Tajikistan Cooperation – President

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has described Sang Toodeh 2 Power Plant as a symbol of Iran-Tajikistan cooperation.

Speaking at the inauguration of phase one of the dam and power plant project, the president said today relations between Iran and Tajikistan have turned into a perfect example for regional countries.
He said Iran-Tajikistan cooperation is in line with regional peace, security and progress, adding that over the course of history the two countries have been pioneers of peace, justice and compassion. “We are determined to continue our cooperation in all fields.”
Ahmadinejad offered congratulations on the inauguration of phase one of Sang Toodeh 2 Dam and Power Plant project. Recalling its simultaneity with ceremonies to mark 20 years of Tajik independence, the president said at 20, Tajikistan is a country with a lot of dynamism and is taking steps toward progress and development.
He then recalled the two countries’ common ground and said Iran and Tajikistan have the same roots and have many customs as well as cultural, historical and religious questions in common.
He underlined that the two countries cannot and will not be separate from each other and that the Iranian people will always stand by their Tajik brethren and will support their independence and dignity.
The president characterized ties between Iran and Tajikistan as “friendly and brotherly” and said progress in our two countries will serve regional interests. “Cooperation between two countries which have been the flag bearers of peace, justice and compassion throughout history is bound to serve the interests of the entire region.”
Ahmadinejad added Iranian and Tajik experts have closely cooperated with each other in the construction of Sang Toodeh 2 Power Plant. “It is our hope that the project will be complete by yearned to serve the Tajik people.”
The president called for speedy completion of projects jointly run by the two countries, and said the Iranian people view Tajikistan’s progress, security and dignity as their own. “We are sure that the Tajik people and government have the same attitude when it comes to Iran.”
The president said Tajikistan is entitled to progress and prosperity and to conquering the peaks of dignity. “No doubt, the Tajik people and government will join forces to make it atop the peaks of prosperity and progress.”
He said Iran and Tajikistan follow the same policy as far as several regional and international questions are concerned. “The two countries want independence, freedom and justice for all nations and are concerned about interference by major powers in the internal affairs of the countries in the region and in North Africa. We view such interference as ruing counter to the interests of nations.”
For his part, the Tajik president thanked all those who contributed to the project and said the Tajik people and government appreciate the efforts of the Iranian government and experts. He added his people view this project as a valuable gift which coincides with Tajikistan’s celebrations of 20 years of independence. Emomali Rahmon said this big achievement is key to friendship and closer cooperation between the two countries. “We are determined to carry on with such cooperation based on the principles of honesty and amicability,” he vowed in conclusion.
