Iran On The Threshold of Becoming Head of International Commission of Irrigation and Drainage

The upcoming Saturday the head of ICID will be voted which the countries of Iran, China and Egypt will compete for the position.



Deputy Energy Minister For Water and Waste Water Affairs said Iran's chance to become the head of International Commission of Irrigation and Drainage is high ,Moe quoted him speaking in Ministry of Energy' weekly meeting of water council here on Sunday. 

The upcoming Saturday the head of ICID will be voted which the countries of Iran, China and Egypt will compete for the position.

400 foreign experts as well as 700 local experts are expected to participate in the events of the 62th annual meeting of International Irrigation and Drainage commission, 21st International Congress of Irrigation and Drainage and the 8th Micro Irrigation congress In I.R.I.B International Conference Hall.

During the annual meeting of ICID held in Sacramento, USA, in 2007, I.R. Iran, Russia, and South Korea were nominated to host the Congress in 2011. South Korea withdrew from the nomination to the benefit of Iran and Russia. Thus voting was taken between Iran and Russia the result of which was almost unanimously for I.R. Iran to host the 21st ICID Congress on Irrigation and Drainage in October 15-23, 2011 to be held in Tehran.
